Community Update # 4. 5 Revised Roadmap

A safe return onsite

We welcomed the prep children back onsite on Monday and they were keen to return and catch up with their friends and teachers.

The class bubble arrangement is working well. Doors and windows in the classrooms are open and the children are continuing to use hand sanitiser. Many of the prep children are wearing masks too.

As per the government mandate, all staff onsite are vaccinated. All essential visitors coming onsite must adhere to the vaccination guidelines too.

We have submitted an application for the sail shade grant for outdoor learning and are awaiting the air purifiers. In the interim, we have arranged for the school sport marquees to be erected outdoors to provide extra shaded learning areas.

On Sunday, the Premier of Victoria announced changes to the roadmap for schools in metropolitan Melbourne and brought forward the current staggered days for Year 5 and 6 students.
  • Years 5 and 6 students will return this Friday 22 October and will be onsite part time for the following week. They will learn remotely Monday 25 to Wednesday 27 October before returning onsite on Thursday 28 and Friday 29 October.
  • Year levels Prep, 1, 2 will stay on the current schedule.
  • Year levels 3 and 4 will return onsite on Tuesday 26 and Wednesday 27 October and work remotely on the other days
In readiness for tomorrow:

To allay any anxiety, staff will be available to meet your children and assist them at 8:45am.

Onsite bookings Those families that qualify to send their children onsite, please ensure you reapply for the new week by Friday of the previous week as per the criteria at this link in Community Update #4.1.Please continue to email principal@spmurrumbeena.catholic.edu.au for onsite inquiries.

  • From Friday November 5 (Week 5):
All children back onsite.

Masks Year 3-6

Children bringing masks to wear in the classroom are advised to bring their mask in a snaplock bag with their name on it. This will ensure that the masks can be stored safely and don't get mixed up if the children take them off to go outside.

P&F mask orders are being delivered to the school. The children onsite will bring home the masks and where possible this will include sibling orders.

Student attendance

All students are expected to attend onsite as their year levels return to onsite learning, unless they are formally being home-schooled. Parent preference is not an approved absence reason. Schools will work closely with families that may be concerned about the return to on site learning. Attendance, both onsite and remote, must be recorded daily.

Stay home when unwell and get tested The most important action school communities can take to reduce the risk of transmission of COVID-19, is to ensure that any unwell staff and students remain at home and get tested, even with the mildest of symptoms. Everyone should consider their health before they start work or attend school and ensure that they are free from coronavirus symptoms and have not had contact in the past 14 days with a person confirmed to have coronavirus or a person suspected to have coronavirus.
