Community Update #2.14

As we finish another term, we thank all of our parent community for your support for the children and our staff.

We thank all of our staff for their efforts this term.

We wish you all a safe and relaxing holiday break and look forward to welcoming everyone back to school on Monday 12th July.

Year 4 First Reconciliation and First Communion

Parents are requested to email Jenny Hawkins principal@spmurrumbeena.catholic.edu.au if your Year 4 child is unable to join the Year 4 cohort for First Reconciliation.

Year 4 Sacrament of the Eucharist takes place on the following dates:

4R Saturday 23rd October at 9:15am

4M Saturday 6th November at 9:15am

If there are any Year 4 children that may require a gluten free host for their First Eucharist, please email Jenny Hawkins principal@spmurrumbeena.catholic.edu.au so that this can be arranged with Fr Siby.

Community Update #2.13

Inaugural Parish and School Newsletter

One of the Parishioners, Maria Lusby, is currently putting together a Parish and School combined newsletter. Families will receive a hard copy of the newsletter when it is published. There will be some contributions from the children as well as lots of other news. Below is a reflection from Holly 5S, after she received the blessed Eucharist for the first time. This reflection will be shared in the new publication. Special thanks to Maria for taking the initiative to share news from the St Patrick's Parish and from our school.

Mini Music Concerts

Today the children attended mini music concerts in the hall. Thanks to Mrs O'Dwyer for coordinating this end of Semester event and organising the children to share their skills and talents with each other. Unfortunately we weren't able to welcome parents. However, we have taken videos of the concerts and will share them with you as soon as the videos are processed.

Flexible Learning, School Reports and Parent Meetings

Thanks to our staff and parents for taking the time to meet online following the release of Semester One reports.

Community Update #2.12

Today is the Feast of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus. The children shared a liturgy together at school. Here are a couple of reflective slides for families from the liturgy.

Year 4 First Reconciliation and First Communion Updates

The Year 4 First Reconciliation is taking place on Wednesday 28th July at 6pm. Any children that can't make that night are invited to join the Year 3 First Reconciliation evening on Wednesday 9th September at 6pm. Please email principal@spmurrumbeena.catholic.edu.au if your Year 4 child is unable to join the Year 4 cohort for First Reconciliation.

School Interviews for 17th June are now open.

Children will be dismissed at 1pm to allow for interviews to commence at 1.30. The last interview time will be 6.20 pm. Team kids will be operating from 1pm this day.

Bookings must be finalised by Tuesday 15th June at 4pm and will not be able to be changed after that time unless the office is notified.

PLEASE NOTE: Make sure that you join the Zoom meeting with a recognisable name that connects you to your children to help the teachers.

Reports will be available online through PAM on Tuesday 15 at 4pm.

Camps, Sports and Excursions Fund (CSEF)

A reminder to Parents and Guardians that you may be eligible for funding from the Camps, Sports and Excursions Fund (CSEF) which is provided by the State Government. Please refer to the link below for details and eligibility criteria. Applications are also available on the website in the link or you can contact Kellie in our office to send you an application form. All applications must be submitted by the end of term 2.

Community Update #2.11

Back to School

The Acting Premier has announced that schools in metropolitan Melbourne will return to onsite learning on Friday 11th June.

This is such good news !! We can all be proud of everything we have done to support our children, our families and each other during the lockdown.

We look forward to welcoming all of the children back onsite on Friday.

Unless we receive any further guidelines from MACS (Melbourne Archdiocese of Catholic Schools), we will revert to the use of 2 entry and exit points for our children until further notice.

Drop Off 8:45am - 8:55am

Prep, Year 1 & Year 2 will enter via the front yard from 8:45am to 8:55am.

Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 will enter via the back yard from 8:45 am to 8:55am.

Parents and carers will be asked to remain outside the gates.

Pick Up at 3:25pm

Class teachers will bring the children outside at 3:25pm at the end of the day.

Parents and carers can enter the front yard only when they see their child and exit immediately out through the church side gates to prevent congestion around the front gate.

Chromebooks

Please return chrome books fully charged (including borrowed ones).

Lunch Orders

Lunch orders will be available on Friday 11th.

Team Kids

Team Kids are able to return to normal operating for Before and After School Care from Friday the 11th of June.

Further Details

Class teachers will contact classes directly about any other updates pertinent to their classes.

There will be further details about school reports, parent teacher meetings and other news in the Shamrock update on Friday.

Community Update #2.10

Year 4 First Reconciliation Postponed

Fr Siby has informed me today that due to Covid restrictions, the Year 4 First Reconciliation night planned for the 16th June is now postponed. The new date is Wednesday 28th July at 6pm.

Flexible Learning

As mentioned in Community Update #2.9, the Flexible Learning for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday will be on the Learning Community Site by 4pm today. Teachers and Learning Support Officers will be taking extra group learning sessions and will notify you about these. Thursday will be a specialist teacher day.

Please look out for further information in Year level Flexischool or email notifications from your teachers.

Thank you to our staff and to our parents for everything you are doing to keep the best possible continuity of learning for our students during the current lockdown.

Parent Support Group Meetings (PSG's)

Thanks to Kerryn Oliver, Liz Hills and all staff and parents involved in the recent PSG's. Our children are fortunate to have such targeted support in place for their learning and dedicated teams of staff and parents willing to contribute their expertise.

Parent Teacher Interviews Thursday 17th June now online

Due to the current Covid challenges, our interviews planned for the 17th June will now take place online. We will share further details with you next week.
