Week 2 Term 2, 2017

"They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;

Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning

We will remember them."

(The Ode comes from For the Fallen, a poem by the English poet and writer Laurence Binyon, 1941).
Thanks to Mrs Mullan and our Year 5 students who led our ANZAC Service on Monday.

Week 1 Term 2, 2017

Welcome Back to a New Term
We wish all of you hope and joy as we celebrate the risen Christ. Here is a prayer for the start of the term. You are welcome to join us for our Easter mass celebration in the church this Friday at 9:10am.
God of our journey, God of hope,
we give you thanks and praise,
as we gather to begin a new term together.
May all who are part of this community,
find a welcome place to grow and be.
Especially at this Easter time,
give us the grace to begin our journey
with hope and joy.
This we pray in Jesus’ name.
Amen
Fr Paul has asked that we pray for his return to good health. Here is a message from Rodney Dearing, our Parish Pastoral Associate.

Fr Paul had a push bike riding accident last week.
0
He sustained several broken bones and is now taking a period of rest and recuperation before returning to active ministry.

Arrangements are being made for priests to celebrate weekend Masses and some Weekday Masses. Please refer to the Weekday Masses schedule for details

It will not be possible to have the Sacrament of Reconciliation at St Patrick’s until Fr Paul returns.

Please continue to pray for Fr Paul.

A Permanent Deacon for Our Parishes
The Archbishop has appointed the Reverend Paselio (Leo) Lemalu as a Permanent Deacon for Murrumbeena and Ormond parishes. Deacon Leo will be available to assist Fr Paul each weekend at Mass and in pastoral ministry.
Deacon Leo will be a wonderful asset for our parishes and he is looking forward to being involved in building up our faith communities.
Please make Deacon Leo welcome when you see him.

SPORTS NEWS from Michelle Barclay SHAMROCK is now TOBIN !!
We’re looking forward to a busy term and it all starts next week on Thursday 27th April with our School Sports Day at Duncan Mackinnon Athletics Track. Information and a request for parent helpers has been sent home with your child this week- we hope that many of you are able to assist and/or attend on the day.
All of our house teams are named after former priests of St Patrick’s- Fr Bill Rovira (Red), Fr Max Grabau (Gold), Fr Bill Bainbridge (Blue). We’re delighted to announce that ‘Shamrock’ house (Green) has been re-named ‘Tobin’ in honour of our recently retired Parish Priest, Father Barry Tobin.
Next week also sees the start of the Year 5&6 Interschool Sport Program on Friday afternoons. Students will play either netball or football.

And finally, congratulations to the Year 5&6 students who participated in the Dendy Soccer Lightning Premiership last term. The fixture was full with approx. 8 matches during the day and the standard of play was high. Our boys team scored some great goals and drew many of their matches. Our girls team put in a fantastic effort to make the final but unfortunately, lost in a penalty shootout. We are very proud of the way they represented St Patrick’s and the manner in which they participated, behaved and supported each other.

History Expo Year 5 and 6 Wednesday 26th April

Years 5 and 6 will be sharing their historical iMovies and Digital Museum Exhibition next Wednesday.
