Confirmation
The Year 6's are preparing to make the sacrament of Confirmation on Wednesday 30th and Thursday 31st May. Bishop Elliot is coming to meet with the children during their Reflection Day this coming week. Please continue to keep the children in your prayers as they prepare for Confirmation.
This Sunday is Pentecost Sunday and a celebration of the coming of the Holy Spirit. We look forward to seeing you at our school and parish Family Mass at 9am.
Child Safe Team Meeting
Our Child Safe Team met during the week. We meet twice a term to discuss ways to ensure St Patrick's is a Child Safe school.
Some agenda items from this meeting included:
- New signs have been made and will shortly be displayed in the school grounds.
- 88% of families have returned the signed Child Safe acknowledgement letter. There will be another reminder to those who haven't signed the letter. Extra copies are available in the office.
- We are exploring opportunities for a parent Cyber Safety awareness evening with educators coming and working with the Year 5 and 6 children too.
- Year 6 SRC reps spoke to the children at assembly about safety in the playground.
- Fiona Quayle spoke at the P&F meeting to draw awareness to our Child Safe Policy.
- Fr Paul will join us for our next Child Safe meeting on the 19th June (see the Pet Paradise reminder below).
Email Reminder
As shared in the Shamrock at the start of this term, please be aware that staff will endeavour to respond to email communications from parents between the hours of 8am - 5pm. Some teachers are still receiving emails late into the evening.
Flexibuzz Absences
In readiness for mandated reforms to school attendance, SMS messages will be generated to parents of students who have not completed absence notifications in Flexibuzz. If your child is away from school for any reason, please complete the absence form on Flexibuzz by 9.30am. All extended holidays should also be emailed to jhawkins@spmurrumbeena.catholic.edu.au.
If we do not receive notification, the student is marked as absent and must be followed up.
School Closure Day
There is a school closure day on 28th May. OHSC be unavailable on this day.
Pet Paradise Reminder
Fr Paul sent out a special welcome to our school families about Pet Paradise on the 17th April via Flexi-Buzz. Here is the message in case you missed it:
You may have noticed the addition of several very cute little friends in the front of the Presbytery (6 Dalny Rd). Children are welcome to pop in for a visit and to feed the animals but must be accompanied by a parent/guardian from 3:30-4:30pm Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
