Week 4, Term 2, 2018

Principal's News from Jenny Hawkins
A Prayer for Mother's Day
Lord God, In your plan for creation, you included mothers in your work of creating and nurturing new life. In you is found all the strength we need as we remember our mothers this Sunday.
Jesus, You gave to the whole world Your own mother. Since Mary is the model for all mothers we turn to her and pray:
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with you.
Blessed are you among women and blessed is the Fruit of your womb, Jesus
Holy Mary , Mother of God, pray for us now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

May we wish all mothers a very special Mothers Day this Sunday.
Thanks you to our P & F mothers who prepared the Mothers and Special Friends Stall and organised the inaugural Mother's and Special Friends afternoon tea today.

Vision Narrative
Our staff spent time contributing to a vision narrative during their conferences days at the end of last term. You can learn more about our time together at this link. The vision narrative helps to bring our vision of Engaged and motivated learners always faithful to our loving God to life. Every word reflects the passion of our staff as they aim to ensure Learners leave St Patrick’s self motivated and ready to make a positive impact on their world. You can read the full vision narrative on the homepage of our Learning Community Site and at this link.

Masterplan
On Tuesday night, our architects K2LD presented our masterplan to the community. The presentation shared all of the steps from consultation with our students, staff and parent and parish community to the various iterations developed with the Masterplan working party over the past six months. This  masterplan reflects the wishes of our children for a greener space with connections between indoors and outdoors as well as optimises both learning and recreation spaces. Security has been optimised as well as meeting the diverse needs of school and parish communities. You can view enlarged images of the plans in our office.
Now that we have our masterplan, we will begin to look at the best ways to bring this plan to life for our community. If you are keen to share your skills, talents and knowledge around applying for grants or joining the masterplan working party then email me jhawkins@spmurrumbeena.catholic.edu.au

Nude Food for Year 1 as a pilot for other children at school
The Year 1's have been learning about sustainability in Science. The children have identified actions to take to conserve resources. One of their actions is to have a waste free lunchbox, otherwise known as 'nude food'. More details will be sent home to the Year 1's today. Thanks Year 1 for leading the way by helping to care for our environment.

Before and After school care provider
After 10 years, our contract with Camp Australia is drawing to an end in July. Special thanks to our working parents Caterina Slade, Alicia Scanlon, Clare Crowe and Veronica Muscatt who have spent several hours with me, reviewing our existing and alternative providers. I have also had an opportunity to visit other schools to meet with and see alternative providers in action and speak with principals and referees. I will continue to keep you informed of developments. Be assured we have the best interests of our children at the heart in all decision making.

Archdiocese Parish Initiative
The Archdiocese of Melbourne is focusing on a Parish Stewardship Programme which recognises
"Parishes as the Heartbeat of the Church". There will be a flyer featuring both the Parishes and schools of St Patrick's and St Kevin's delivered to all houses in our Parish zone. Look out for the flyer coming your way very soon.
