Community Update #3.6

What a busy week we have had! The children celebrated Science Week this week, culminating in a day of experiments in multi-age groups. I’m sure your children will enjoy sharing their experiences with you.

Next week is another exciting one with Book Week kicking off on Monday morning.

BOOK WEEK 2022    20-26 August

This year’s theme ‘Dreaming with Eyes Open’ acknowledges Australia’s First Nations People and their rich story-based culture.

Each year since 1945 the CBCA (Children’s Book Council of Australia) has brought children and books together across Australia through CBCA Book Week. During this time schools and public libraries spend one glorious week celebrating books and Australian children's authors and illustrators. Classroom teachers, teacher librarians and public librarians create colourful displays, develop activities, run competitions and tell stories relating to a theme to highlight the importance of reading. This is a lot of fun and helps bring kids’ most cherished books to life. To help your child appreciate the power of imagination and creativity, spend time together discussing books and the possible dress-up costume that is do-able.

At St Patrick’s we will launch Book Week on Monday 22 August at 9am with a parade where students and staff dress up as a favourite book character. We will assemble together and, with the Choir leading, sing Come Alive, before we commence the parade.

We look forward to celebrating this joyous occasion and having fun together.    Bernadette Wood - Librarian

The next SAC meeting was due next Thursday, however due to the school closure day, and our re-locating, we will postpone this for now.

Traffic

Today some cars were side swiped in Victory St near Dalny Rd. We urge parents and carers not to double park or park across driveways- both are safety hazards. We will request Glen Eira Council to monitor and book those failing to comply.

A reminder that there is no school next Thursday, but Team Kids will be operating.
