Welcome back
It's been wonderful to see the children "running" back into school this week !! Our new preppies and new staff have all settled in well. Welcome to all of our new families.
Happy Chinese New Year
Core Values
Our core values at St Pat's are very important to us. They describe the way we treat each other. This term, the core value focus is "We are open and honest".
Thanks to Lily and Indy from Year 3 for sharing their core value poster with us.
COVID Update
Thank you to all of our staff and families who are supporting us to keep our school community safe by using the Rapid Antigen Test kits.
In most cases, any notification about positive cases will be directed to a whole level due to the fact that the classes are in Year level bubbles and come into frequent contact with each other. The notification is a good reminder to monitor your children for symptoms and keep them at home if they are unwell.
The second lot of Rapid Antigen testing kids will be distributed at the beginning of Week 3 February 14.
Staff News
Farewell Sandra
After being at St Pat's for 14 years, the wonderful Sandra from our office finished on January 27. Sandra has taken up the opportunity to accept a part time role with reduced hours in another school so that she can spend more time with family.
We are grateful for Sandra's dedication and commitment to St Pat's during her many years here. Sandra (and Pippa her dog) will certainly be missed.
We wish Sandra well and look forward to a special farewell for her from the children when we are able to come together again in the coming weeks.
A huge thank you to Sandra for assisting with the transition of her responsibilities to Kellie during the school holidays.
We also thank Kellie for managing this first week back at school on her own.
On Monday we welcome Lina to join Kellie in the office. Lina is looking forward to getting to know the children and our community. Lina has strong administrative experience and together with Kellie will ensure our front office continues to be a welcoming point of contact for children, staff and families.
Introducing Tasma Dunn
We would like to introduce Tasma Dunn as our school counsellor for the 2022.
Tasma is a provisional psychologist on placement through CatholicCare, as part of her final year of a Master of Educational and Developmental Psychology programme at Monash University.
She is available to provide support to students, teachers and families on Wednesdays throughout the year.
Sometimes children and young people find living in our demanding, complex world difficult to negotiate. This can impact their social, emotional and educational development.
School Counselling is a confidential service offered at our school to assist students that may be experiencing difficulties with issues such as:
· Conflict, anger, grief and loss
· Anxiety and low mood or depression
· School refusal
· Developmental and learning concerns
· Family changes such as separation or divorce
· Social skills, peer relationships and bullying
· Behavioural challenges
Tasma is available at the school on Wednesday each week. Please talk with Kerryn Oliver if you would like to find out more about the school counselling program and obtain the relevant forms.
Simon Everywhere and Flexi schools
Due to a number of parents expressing their dissatisfaction with the advertising on Flexi schools we made a decision to transition to Simon Everywhere (SE) for 2022.
SE links to the current PAM (Parent Access Module) accounts where you as parents can access your children's reports, NAPLAN results and update family details.
SE also has the ability to provide shortcut links to lunch orders, absences, the newsletter and much more. We are in the process of setting these up.
We are allowing a long transition period as we fine tune SE for our community and will continue using Flexi schools in the coming weeks until the transition is complete. Please don't worry if you are struggling to adapt to SE. We will work with you and support you to ensure everybody has access.
In the meantime, please email me with any queries and these will be followed up as soon as possible principal@spmurrumbeena.catholic.edu.au
