Week 1 Term 2 2019

Welcome to Term 2 and blessings of joy and happiness as we celebrate the risen Lord.

Sadly over the Easter weekend, the lives of many innocent people were lost in the horrendous explosions in Sri Lanka. Our heartfelt prayers for over 300 victims who were killed, many whilst attending Easter services. Please keep them and their families in your prayers.

First Reconciliation
Please keep our Year 3 children in your thoughts and prayers as they prepare to make the Sacrament of Reconciliation on Tuesday 30th April at 6:30pm in the church.

Anzac Service
We held a very respectful Anzac Service in the church this afternoon. Thanks to our Year 6 Faith and Justice leaders and Mrs Mullan for leading the service.

YEAR 4-6 CROSS COUNTRY

In surprisingly mild conditions, our Year 4-6 students braved the elements this morning to participate in our school Cross Country. We were delighted to see their efforts as they challenged themselves and showed perseverance in this event. For some students, it was the first time they have run 2km (9/10 yo) or 3km (11, 12/13 yo). There were some great displays of friendship and support as they encouraged and congratulated each other on their achievements. Students who were away today are asked to attend Running Club on Tuesday so that they can be timed- the team who will compete at the upcoming Dendy Cross Country can then be finalised.
Thanks to our parent helpers and Mrs Barclay for ensuring this event ran smoothly.

Staff Professional Learning, Core Values and Seesaw
At the end of Term 1, all of the staff participated in our Schools That Deliver Conference. You can read about the conference at this link.
As a result of the conference and the culmination of twelve months of work by the staff, we have agreed on our actions going forward and will commence with them this term. The actions will contribute to bringing our shared vision to life and ensure that every learner at St Patrick's will benefit. Here is a link to the shared vision.
On Monday at assembly, we will launch a dedicated focus on our core values. Here is a link to the core values. We will spend about 8 weeks per value, commencing with We respect and value one another. You will hear all about it from your children.
Last year, we trialled Seesaw as a way for parents to become engaged and motivated in the children's learning. As a result of the success of this trial and the overwhelming positive feedback from parents, Seesaw will be launched across the whole school this term. There will be more information in next week's Shamrock.
